Jan. 19th - Position

With the NFL playoffs in full swing, I still have a window of opportunity to draw on some gridiron illustrations. In the game of football, every player has a "position". Within that position, comes defined duties & responsibilities that interact and cooperate with the bigger and more important team dynamic. If one player gets out of position then the entire team has to compensate and flex and most of the time with minimal results. It takes the entire team, all of which are operating properly within the scope of their defined duties and responsibilities, to be successful.
It's no different in families. It's no different in business. It's no different in government. It's no different in churches. We see this all the time when a volunteer misses their designated duty and fails to inform. The missing link throws the entire team into a state of flex and shift with many people having to function outside of their designated realm of responsibility. Needless to say, productivity goes way down!
The Bible teaches the importance of "position."
We must be positioned "in Christ" - (Ephesians 2:6 & 364 other places!)
We must be positioned "in families" - (Psalm 68:6)
We must be positioned "in love" - (Ephesians 3:17)
We must be positioned "in faith" - ( Heb. 10:22)
We must be positioned "in prayer" - (Luke 6:12)
I could go on but allow me to round out this principle of position. Your position impacts your condition. Most people are frustrated with their condition but are totally out of place in their position. Until you get back in proper position, fulfilling your designated duties and responsibilities for the team, you'll never see much progress in changing your condition.
The biggest difference between us and the game of football is that life is not a game. The ramifications of a life lived out of position are far reaching and ultimately devastating.
Let's reposition ourselves this morning.

Meet you in the morning
