I talk a lot about "attitude". Paul the Apostle talked a lot about attitude as well. Bad attitudes are like bad apples... they spoil the good ones. It's impossible to compartmentalize your attitudes. They all mix and mingle and if you have a bad one, it eventually infects the rest, then they are team up together to infect someone else. Bad attitudes are definitely contagious.
Godly people can develop unhealthy attitudes. Elijah developed one that was almost terminal. His bad attitude was built upon a falsehood. He believed he was the only one in Israel who had not bowed the knee to Baal. He believed the entire nation of Israel had rejected Jehovah for Jezebels Baal. As a result of his pity party point of view, Jezebels threats pressed him to run and hide like a scared rabbit. God eventually tracks him down and asks, "What are you doing here Elijah?"
1 Kings 18:22 - "...I alone am left a prophet of the Lord..."
1 Kings 19:10 - "...I alone am left..."
1 Kings 19:14 - "...I alone am left..."
Of course, this wasn't true. Here's God's response to his flawed perspective.
1 Kings 19:18 - "Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all who's knees have not bowed to Baal..."
You see, perceptions become assumptions and assumptions become beliefs. These false beliefs develop our attitudes and our attitudes determine our actions and our actions determine our futures and our...
I think you see how these unhealthy attitudes are so harmful. If you're "sportin a tude" this morning let me strongly encourage you to dethrone it ASAP!
Here's some thoughts...
Get to the root of your rotten attitude.
* Helpful Hint - It's probably selfish in nature.
Attack it with massive doses of Gods Word - the real truth.
Confess your fault to God.
Repent to anyone you may have infected.
Proactively develop good attitudes to replace the bad ones.
(good attitudes are contagious too!)
Go help somebody that needs it.
Get back on course with your life purpose.
Refuse to allow yourself to be infected again.
Stay away from others who carry them.
Hang around those who have healthy attitudes.
*Helpful Hint - You'll find them selflessly serving others.
Be blessed today & meet you here in the morning.
